Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Treatments in North Palm Beach

More than just physical rehabilitation, a path to wellness

Pain is more than just an "ouch." It can lead to suffering and even depression. At Craig H. Lichtblau, M.D., P.A., we understand the complex nature of chronic pain and are committed to addressing all aspects of your condition. Our comprehensive rehabilitation approach combines effective treatments to:

  • Reduce physical pain and discomfort
  • Address emotional suffering
  • Improve overall well-being

Trigger Point Injections for Pain Relief

Trigger point injections are administered directly into the muscle belly, targeting taut bands or areas of spasm within the muscle. These taut bands can be painful and are often the underlying cause of pain. Trigger point injections serve both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. If significant relief is observed after the injections, it strongly suggests that muscle spasm is a primary pain generator. The injection typically consists of an anesthetic combined with an anti-inflammatory medication.

Advanced Electrodiagnostic Testing (EMG)

Electrodiagnostic studies are diagnostic procedures used to assess underlying neuropathic conditions. EMG can help diagnose cervical or lumbar radiculopathy (pinched nerves), peripheral neuropathy, or distal nerve entrapments such as carpal tunnel syndrome.

EMG/NCS can aid in distinguishing between acute and chronic conditions and in evaluating the extent of neuropathic recovery. These studies are commonly used alongside MRI scans to correlate anatomical findings with nerve function.

Expert Physical Therapy Services

Physical therapy services combine both passive and active treatments. Passive treatments include the use of moist heat pads and ice packs for analgesia; ultrasound therapy to generate heat at the muscle-bone interface and stimulate blood flow; and electrostimulation to promote circulation, muscle relaxation, and pain relief. Manual therapy treatments are also used for muscle relaxation, pain relief, and to increase the extensibility of soft tissues.

Active treatments involve exercises and stretching, as well as cardiovascular conditioning to improve strength, range of motion, and endurance. Physical therapy is not just a treatment—it is also an educational experience that teaches patients how to manage their condition independently, eventually transitioning them to a home exercise program.

Functional Capacity Evaluation

A functional capacity evaluation is an assessment tool used to define physical function to return people back to gainful employment within safe parameters.

Targeted Nerve Block Treatment

Medical professional performing targeted nerve block treatment at Dr. Lichtblau's clinic using specialized equipment.

Occipital nerve is located in the back of the neck at the junction of the head. Occipital entrapments can occur with underlying spasms commonly causing occipital headaches. This can subsequently produce symptoms radiating to the top of the head as well as in the back of the eyes. Occipital blocks can be diagnostic and therapeutic for occipital neuralgia/occipital headaches.

Advanced M6 Laser Therapy
